Bio


Charles Brenton is Brenton Landscape Architecture’s founder and design director. His award winning work is grounded in wide ranging influences early experiences in the landscape and construction industry, to studies at the University of Georgia’s College of Environmental Design and in Europe. His work reflects a rich diversity of interests and life experience. After working in the planning and design departments of leading engineering firms, Charles founded “Brenton Associates”. In the 1990’s, working from a studio near Baltimore, Charles designed numerous distinguished projects. He was recognized by Governor Parris Glendenning for his advocacy on behalf of “Smart Growth’ legislation. Seizing a new opportunity for professional growth, Charles relocated his studio to Philadelphia in 2001.


Charles’ design sensibility integrates a respect for Modernism’s clarity and grace with an appreciation of landscape as cultural memory, and as regenerative, life sustaining system.
